Beliefs systems build personal realities that CAN be changed!
Our Belief systems house the 'rules' on the game of life we are playing. More than ever, around the globe millions are realising the benefits of long-lost, dormant inner powers. The powers that come alive upon a realisation that our ability to believe, perhaps the most influential creative force we posess, can be tapped, changed and released so we can experience the difference this makes in our lives.
A belief is a conviction of meaning and we form them to assist us in defining or making sense of life. We form them about our physical environment, the nature of the world we live in and what is real and possible within it. We form judgements about behaviors and which ones mean what and when. We build conclusions about our capabilities and skills within our environment as expressed through our behaviours, along with the levels of difficulty or ease connected with these skills. We even build beliefs about our beliefs and often get stuck on the dilemma of good or bad/right or wrong. And finally we create definitions about ourselves; our identity. Those things we say which start with the words "I'm ...", both positive and negative.
What you define (believe) your world and yourself to be is what you will get back. In the words of Henry Ford "Whether you believe you can or you believe you can't, you are right." Yet Henry didn't know that there is more than just your conscious mind doing the believing! Your unconscious beliefs are the most powerful and have the most power 'over' you. That means you have power over yourself that you don't know you are having. Change them and you really know that you have changed!
The Science of Beliefs
There is an interesting and very exciting connection between these ideas, and discoveries in quantum physics which support the notion that your meanings create your reality. The scientific findings concluded that reality does not exist until it is defined.
What is being offered here is the idea that through the eyes of a particular observer, any kind of reality must be identified as having some kind of definitional boundary for it to be perceived at all. Those boundaries are 'set' in the perception of the observer and in a sense, projected outwardly. All of this occurs beyond the conscious awareness of the observer. No wonder we sometimes feel disempowered, we aren't conscious of HOW this is going on, let alone that reality comes from us.
The following statement gives us some understanding of this concept.
• Belief is the conviction about definition.
• Definition is the result of clarified meaning.
• Meaning is the result of a choice about what is real.
• Reality is that which you choose to perceive to be certain.
• Certainty Is an illusion.
Groundbreaking discoveries in the field of Biology are supporting these ideas as undenialbe evidence mounts that we are not the product of our genes nor are we at the mercy of our bodies. Instead, your beliefs actually switch on and off both genes and cellular functions within the body. Mind over genes is indeed mind over matter.
How Beliefs are built.
Into the black void of no-thing, the quantum wholeness of infinite possibilities, we bring the light of our mind. Through the contrast of this light we create definition. We make some-THING specific and make sense (sensory) of it. Our definition forms a particle from the wholeness of all the possibilities of the void and we get to experience this very specific idea we just made. We do it effortlessly and we do it unconsciously. It is thought all our meanings or beliefs follow this process.
Beliefs are built from the events you experienced while you were a young child. That's not to say that your environment 'made you' that way (like you have no power) but I rather like to bring the power back to you being the learner in the environment for two reasons:
1. Since you are the learner, then whatever you've learned lies within you.
2. Since your learning is within you, any change you make, you'll get to keep with you.
It is suggested that all this accelerated learning occurs up to about age 7. What makes beliefs so easily learnt at this young age is the speed of the brainwaves at that time. This is the same brainwave state that many adults want to have more of and it is called the Alpha state.
As adults our brainwaves move at faster rates. These are called Beta waves and use both sides of the brain but only one side at a time (sequentially). You might think 'Ok, faster. That must be good right?' well... only if you like stress. As children our brainwaves are much slower and operate in ranges between Theta and Alpha. These use both sides of the brain at the same time (simultaneously). Whole brain processing. In fact the Beta state often can't kick-in until the onset of puberty or around 12-14 years of age. Perhaps that's why kids stress less.
Whenever you look at someone you'll see the essential things you've learned about what 'a person' is. You notice a shape and movements which are the body. You notice their style or persona which we might call their personality and within that personality you become aware that they have a conscious thinking awareness which you recognise as thier mind.
What is missing from this equasion is the information you haven't been taught. The information about the unconscious mind, it's functions or prime directives, it's purpose and it's innate, natural connection to the universe/all that is.
All beliefs and in fact all learning, is unconscious. As is all behaviour. For example, you don't decide how to consciously do a behaviour like a smile; you aren't required to command and control all the little muscles individually to put a smile on your face. Instead you just 'smile' and do it. Automatically all the muscles do their thing and presto! the world can see your pearly whites.
Similarly your learnt beliefs and meanings run unconsciously too and there are basically just two types of beliefs. Harmonious beliefs and disharmonious beliefs.
Now, harmonious ones sit well with you both consciously and unconsciously and will generate peaceful results. These are integrated, aligned or congruent meanings which draw no objection from within you. So you won't notice them much (which is interesting in itself that we are pre-wired like this).
The disharmonious ones will get objections. These are mis-aligned, unintegrated or incongruent beliefs. For the most part you'll only notice them through the kind of experiences you have. This is where we get down to the cornerstones of personal change and the potential for massive self transformation.
Beliefs & the Fundamental Law of Attraction
Your unconscious mind records your beliefs as you learn them from a very young age. They are recorded in a particular format which works on the Theta or Alpha level. As adults, when (if) we discover these same recorded tracks aren't supporting the kind of life we really want, we often try to change them using a format which works on a very different Beta level. We want to change the recording but we don't know how to get to it. We try to access it through will power but will power is formatted in Beta. Most things recorded in beta will fade and disappear over time while all those recorded in the slower brainwave formats can last lifetimes.
So all beliefs are like tracks on a CD running subconsciously and the ones out of harmony with your total self (mind/body/spirit) are brought to the surface into your awareness through your hardships and difficulties so you can deal with them using some preferred method. What or who does the 'bringing' to my awareness? Your unconscious mind does it. What the heck for? So you can access the energy of your disharmony and once you transform it, take it back and have it support your life's happiness automatically!
The basic Law of Attraction says:
As you put forth your thoughts, according to your beliefs, so you create. The timimg of these creations is, for now, beyond our willfull influence and positive trust in Synchronicity becomes a means of finding order among the apparent chaos of the universe.
This is the meaning behind the idea that "what you put out, you get back." It is not based on judgements of how good or bad, right or wrong you are or have been because your unconscious mind and the universe don't judge which beliefs will be supported. The fact is that you are always 100% supported in the strongest beliefs (including fears) that you hold regardless of what label you've learned to give them.
So essentially this means that your judgements are the ones you will see, which fits with a similar saying I heard that goes something like "Judge not, lest the be judged." I wondered what that meant for years and years.
Change your thinking and you will change your life. Use your life to show you the unconscious thoughts that you do have. The next time life turns crappy, become aware of the things you say to yourself on the inside when you're at rock bottom. Things like 'I'm a failure' or "I'm not good enough" or "I'm useless, nothing or worthless."
I think your conscious mind knows you are fine and that's the trick to it. Since your conscious mind doesn't think these negative thoughts, then they must be subconscious! If these negative thoughts don't feel good, then they are of course disharmonious. And if you're over and done with that belief, all you have left to do is decide which method you will employ to change it and get the results you want.
Begin by believing there are new ways to get on in the world that you could be using right now. Educate yourself in these ways and new choices will always be close at hand. Better still, experience the difference of a Personal Breakthrough!
