My take is that while classical Newtonian (3D cause/effect) science is a great tool, it is a limited way to look at the world of mind and will keep us from seeing a bigger picture (unlike Quantum science) until a way is found to scientifically include subjective experience in it's models.
Put simply: one can't accurately measure the immaterial MIND with a science founded in the measuring of matter. “Nothing Exists Until it is Measured” (Niels Bohr) - [my translation]: Everytime we apply a "meaning" we 'measure', and then whatever we decieded upon, begins to 'exist' (as experience) for us. There's no Newtonian matter here to measure. As a current Australian student of psychology I can say that each new textbook contains more print supporting possibilities of Quantum physics that the previous one and so it should, for advancement requires the challenging of what has been.

"If it had not been for my father,I would not have discovered The Secret!
When I look back through my life, I can see every single event was preparing and guiding me to The Secret. But without my father doing one big thing, I would not have discovered it.
He went and died! Suddenly!
From a morning that began like any other, within hours I was standing in a hospital surrounded by my mother and my sisters, as my father took his last breath.
Over the following months, I was hit hard with one thing after another going wrong in my life, which is no surprise when you know The Secret.
The final blow came when I found I was utterly powerless to help my grief stricken mother. As I opened that book, the spark of The Secret ignited. Within weeks I had read hundreds and hundreds of books and traced The Secret back through centuries, piecing the knowledge together, bit by bit.
With every page, with every moment, with every discovery, the spark intensified and became a raging fire that surged through me... as "The Secret" to the universe was revealed.
One year later, the film of The Secret was complete, and delivered to you. There are no words I can find to describe the people who were instrumental in this creation coming to the screen.
